Aoa everyone I’m im a genuine problem and need real help please. My parents are rejecting the only girl I ever truly want to marry in life on the mere basis that her family is “pendu” although she developed herself, is fully compatible with me and an amazing, genuine, kind and honest person. I want to know the religious view on the requirement of grooms parents approval in a marriage since I do not depend on anyone in any way. I know you would have alot of questions but simply put we both have taken our time and decided to marry after carefully considering all the things. I would still try convincing my parents in any case but I want to know the religious take on this as it would also help in convincing them alott. Any references like Ayah, Tafsir, Hadees etc would be greatly appreciate

Marriage is primarily a personal matter between a man and a woman, with the family and elders serving as facilitators. The consent of both the man and woman is crucial, while parental approval is desirable for fostering healthy relationships. Children are not obligated to obey their parents in every situation, but they are encouraged to treat them kindly (as stated in “wa bil walidaini Ahsana”). If children genuinely believe that their parents are infringing on their rights, they have the right to disobey.
These principles are clear, but their implementation requires educated and mature judgment. Such decisions are for a lifetime, so it’s important to avoid rushing. Engage in thoughtful discussion until an agreeable conclusion is reached.
