  • Question Regarding Quran Recitation In Fard Prayer

Posted by Fahad Nawaz on December 25, 2024 at 7:04 pm

    Assalamoalaikum,

It is a normal understanding in ummah that as far as one joins the jamat before completion o raqooh – the rakaat is accepted as joined for completion. In this scenario, the late joiner has not read the compulsory Quran portion in Qiyaam of that rakaah.

I am a bit confused about this standing, can someone please share explanation on this issue from Javaid Sahab or in absence of his explanation, can a brother of knowledge please answer. What happens to the compulsory recitation of Quran in this case.

    JazakAllah.

This is a matter of Ijtihad, therefore more than one opinion is there. Some think that one gets a rakat if one finds Ruku, one should stand a little to fulfill the obligation of standing and then join in the Ruku. The recitation of the Imam suffices for him.

The other opinion says that an essential portion of the prayer is missed, therefore one should repeat the rakat. I go with the second opinion.

    JazakAllah brother for explaining.

May Allah forgive my shortcomings, Inshaa Allah, i will start following the second opinion from today onwards as it seems to be more safe approach.
