Jabir bin `Abdullah was heard to say:

We used to sell our slave women and the mothers of our children (Umahat Awaldina) when the Prophet (ﷺ) was still living among us, and we did not see anything wrong with that.”

    Sunan Ibn Majah 2517.

Was there still trading of slaves going on and the prophet didn’t have any problem?

The slavery was a social problem. A gradual mechanism was introduced to end it. The slaves were given the right to buy their freedom from the masters and find in zakat was made to support them. But most of them did it buy it and prefer to stay slaves. Because it gives them livelihood, residence and protection of their masters. As long as the slaves educated they were sold and bought.
