I strive to follow all aspects of Islam except for the five daily obligatory prayers. I struggle with laziness and negative thoughts, often influenced by depression, which make me feel that praying isn’t beneficial. How is such neglect viewed in Islam, and what are its consequences? Could you kindly provide guidance on this matter? And what is the exact punishment for it in the after world?

Prayer is not performed to cure depression. It is the duty to be performed by a Muslim to please God. One should know one is a servant of God and one will be held answerable to God of one’s actions.

Is there any exact consequences or punishment mentioned in Qur’an for not praying regularly?
