It is said that the written record of sunnah are the books of fiqh…while tracing back the origins of an prevalent sunnah to know whether it was prevalent in the ummah in the same form during the times of prophet Muhammad or not…..which is that first fiqh book that we refer to know if sahaba or the prophet initiated it the same way as it is now..

At least in Ahadees we have a chain of sahabas describing a particular event thus witnesses the presence of an act during prophets periods…

How does fiqh books show that….do we have any fiqah book of sahabas …which are the first fiqh books taken as sources.

Sunnah is the legacy of Muslims, who unanimously act upon it across the world. The Books of Fiqh record these Sunnah as already present in society. The Books of Fiqh are not books of narrations that need chains of narrators; they are different. They discuss a problem in Sunnah. For example, they discuss prayer, fasting, Hajj, etc, and determine which part of them are farz, or not farz, and if someone misses a part of it, how he can compensate it. if there is a new situation, how one would act upon a sunnah, etc.
