  • Following Shafii School For Asr Timing Because Of Convenience

I understand that different fiqh use different timings and both are acceptable. I belong to a mostly hanafi area. My question is can I choose to follow Shafi timings if I am praying at home simply because they are more convenient for me, by this I mean I am less likely to delay my prayer to the last hour or so if I just pray as early as possible which would be the Shaafi timing. Also it is a matter is ease where I am usually busier during the later time or more tired. I also make sure to not delay my zuhr prayers beyond that time.

Isn’t it possible that the Holy Prophet ( SAW) simply prayed at both timings considering proof for both timings exist ( that is arguments for the earlier and later times)?

You can follow Shafii timing if it is easier for you. There is no strictness for common muslims, for scholars however, the criteria is strict. Please watch the following videos:

Please refer to the video below from 40:09 to 42:27

    Jazak Allah!

With regard to the second video, Ghamidi sahab discourages the common man to come to conclusions based on their own knowledge as they are not learned enough, which is sensible. Is he referring to objective religious matters such as rulings regarding prayer, zakat, Hajj etc or are smaller ethical delimmas of a more nuanced nature also included. Sometimes after reading researching on a subject ( not major religious injunctions) and different scholarly opinions, I come to my own conclusions I find most logical. Is this right of qiyas something the common man can exercise especially if he does not present it as a learned scholarly opinions to others and admit they do not come from complete knowledge. My personal relationship with Allah sometimes stems from these personal opinions, am I in the wrong ?

I wild be most grateful to any efforts made in bettering my understanding as I am often hounded by guilt over small matters, even small fatwas I casually come across regarding right and wrong that occupy so much of energy that I can not function productively in my life.
