  • Air And Discharge Passing From Front Passage Has Any Effect On Wudu?

Posted by Saba Bilal on March 1, 2025 at 2:47 am

Sometimes a person experiences air passing frequently from their front end which isn’t from the digestive tract ( as reproductive organs are hollow tubes where can enter and exit) and discharge which is neither sperm or from sexual arousal ( in women small amount of discharge is is physiologically produced for reproductive health and cleanliness )

Do these have any effect on wuzu?

It is recommended to make a fresh Wudu in this case. It is similar to the passing wind.

From a medical point of view, it’s very different though. Gas in the intestine is due to decomposition of food and does have small fecal particles that give it an unpleasant smell. Air from the reproductive tract does not form in that manner and is just air from the outside that enters because of the presence of a relatively large hollow tube ( in case of females) and at some point will exit aswell especially during movements.

From a practical point of view, it’s incredibly inconvenient as it is in no way controllable and often presents as bubbles that continuously come and go especially while in movement ( like in prayer).

Shouldn’t it be considered pure in that sense, also since it’s a fairly common issue along with discharge ( in females), shouldn’t the lack of any clear directive in sunnah or Hadith give way to the opinion that it shouldn’t effect wudu since surely otherwise the women of the era would have been concerned about it and a ruling would have emerged.

I hope I’m not being disrespectful, I’m simply offering a medical point of view as a doctor and asking for your opinion in that regard. Also this is very much an awfully common biological phenomena in women, especially discharge which serves a healthy physiological function so it would not only cause mental distress with regard to maintaining wuzu ( considering it often continuous ) but can possibly have negative health effects if excessive cleaned.

If it is what you suggest that it comes in from outside and then goes out then it is not similar to passing wind and it does not invalidate Wudu.
