Jahiloon meaning in arabic – The person who has lost control of himself in emotions

{And the servants of the Most Merciful are those who walk upon the earth easily, and when the ignorant address them [harshly], they say [words of] peace.} [Quran 25:63]

There are some people who deliberately provoke, fully in control of their emotions and are not Jahil and these type of people provoke and keep pushing and check boundaries of other people.

How to deal with such people? Whats the criteria for a muslim to decide when to walk away or when to take a stand/being assertive ?

Jahil is a biased person who does not follow a rational and academic approach. The one you are referring to is a Jahil, and the best way to deal with such people to avoid them.
