Ghamidi states that certain verses like jizya were only meant for people of the prophets time and I agree, but how do we know which verses are for today? Why couldn’t all the hudud verses be only for the prophets time? we’re is the line drawn..

Ittmam e Hujjah and its immediate consequences are specific. This is not religion. It is an incident. On the other hand, religion is general and a collection of directives. We have to determine whether or not a certain directive is associated with the law of itmam e Hujjah. There are other directives in the Quran which are specific because their illah was circumstantial. The science of generalization rests on the nature of cause (illah). If illah can be generalized, the directive is general, if illah is specific, the derived is specific.

For example, the directive of the Hijab for the Mothers of believers is specific, because it was circumstantial, but prayer, fast, and Hajj are general because they belong to the worship for which humans are created.

So is the cutting off of the hand circumstantial? as the society back then did not have police and jails like today?
