    Asalam alaikum.

Lets suppose a person has some property and i decide during their life time to gift it to some of their children excluding others. Is that permissable?

On one hand it’s not inheritance as its done during the persons lifetime. however it does sound very unfair. Seems like people can use this to avoid their property going to their girls (and out of their family)

So is the answer – yeah its his to give to whomever he pleases in his life – however remember Allah could question you regarding this injustice?

I heard a Hadith in a sermon last week where Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) forbade a sahabi to just give gift to one of his children (numan bin basheer i think).

i think this could/probably is easily used by people in places like Pakistan to exclude daughters from inheritance. We already have horrible practices like Quran se shadi etc to ensure inheritance doesn’t go outside the family with the daughter
