Scholar March 18, 2025 at 8:29 pmEveryone is responsible for his or her own actions. A person gets benefit from the things he initiated in his life.
The following hadith explains it.
حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: “جب انسان فوت ہو جائے تو اس کا عمل منقطع ہو جاتا ہے سوائے تین اعمال کے (وہ منقطع نہیں ہوتے): صدقہ جاریہ یا ایسا علم جس سے فائدہ اٹھایا جائے یا نیک بیٹا جو اس کے لیے دعا کرے

Member March 18, 2025 at 10:36 pmPlease open the word Sadqa e Jariya in detail. Kindly give some examples? Some Ulema say kids are also Sadqa e Jariya.
You shared a pious son making dua for his parents, what if son gives charity on the name of his parents? What about reading Quran and Zikr for his parents?

Scholar March 20, 2025 at 9:14 pmA good deed like a welfare project for example, water filter plant or providing food to a poor، is a sadqa e e jariya. If parents used to do this activity or they advised their children to do it in their name then its reward continuously reach them.
Good deeds of children are sadqa e jariya for parents because they train them for doing good.
There is no basis for the practice that by reading Qur’an or zikr their reward can be transferred to dead. It is bida’t.
