“ who are humble in prayers and who shun vain conversation” surah al Momineen verse 2-3

There have been other questions like this on the forum but I would like some clarification as in one it is defined as useless or irrelevant talk and in another it is thought to be immoral talk. For example : I sometimes play very silly childish games ( always innocent ) with family to pass time or lighten everyone’s mood. Or we have funny conversations that have no purpose but to just laugh about daily matters, though innocent they aren’t always intelligent conversations. Strictly speaking they are very useless and just for fun or family time.

Would this come under idle conversation?

Or according to umer sahab it talks about immoral conversation but wouldnt it just be haram talk then?

Or was he talking about things that might not be explicitly haram but still allude to immorality such as passing underhanded comments about people, gossiping disguised as commentary, using questionable language, joking about immoral things in an inexplicit manner, people getting carried away in their company and saying things they wouldn’t otherwise say. In their full senses. Generally things that would trigger a persons sense of ethics once he removes himself from the company ?

Some clarification would be much appreciated, thankyou!

Laghaw means something which is useless or futile.

Joking and gossip in not always ideal talk but necessary to ease your nerves, create a bond with other.

Playing games is necessary for physical or mental health.

But excess of everythig is bad and can make an activity laghw which is otherwise is fine.

Thankyou, I’m still a little confused but I’ll try to reflect on my understanding.
