Ghamdi Sahib, it’s been 7 years since my marriage and we haven’t had children. So, I adopted a baby boy from my relatives and openly told everyone that this child is not mine, he’s adopted. My relatives and neighbors everywhere know that this child is adopted. The question is, can I change the father’s name when registering the child’s name, just for documentation purposes? I need to travel outside the country and open a bank account in the child’s name, but the biological father can’t keep coming to sign documents. Please guide me on the right path.My intention is only to ensure that I can document this correctly, so that there are no issues in the future. Otherwise, I wholeheartedly acknowledge that this is not my biological son, and I have openly told everyone about it.

Altering the father’s name constitutes a falsehood, and such an act can only be considered permissible if it prevents a greater harm. It is for you to assess whether the necessity or potential harm justifies this action. However, it is advisable to seek a lawful and transparent method to register the child under your guardianship. In many cases, banking regulations do not explicitly require verification by the biological father.
