Question About Seemingly Contradicting Hadiths?
Salam!
My question is related to the captives of Awtas. In this hadith, it can be inferred that the companions were allowed to have intercourse with them as they were “right hand possessions”

But then there is a hadith in bukhari which says that the Prophet PBUH delayed the distribution of the captives and then freed them:

If that had occurred then how were the companions allowed to have sexual relations with the captives as they were not distributed among them? They weren’t owning them weren’t they?
Were the captives in a position that anyone could do anything with them? Who were owning those captives at that point?
Or were some of them actually distributed before the delegation came to the Prophet PBUH asking them to return the captives?
