‘What the right hand possessed’ is a term used both for slaves and prisnors of war. Allowance to have sex was with the slaves girls. The law for captive women who were not slaves, was that they could be offered to marry a Muslim or they were set free against a ransom money or with it.

In traditions the narrators sometimes do not differentiate in words the two kinds of captive women.

thank u for the reply sir!

another question i had was (it is quite silly), what does فَشُدُّوا۟ ٱلْوَثَاقَ mean in verse 47:4? does it imply that the warriors have to be enslaved or it just talking about capturing/physically restraining them?
