Ghamidi states that Surah Ahzab (Ayat related to woman) are talking about Prophets wives but why early scholars such as Imam Abu Hanifa, Imam Shafii, Imam Hanbal and other scholars did not take the background of the surah but only the command inside it?

All the previous scholars understood the same. It was a later shift in the understanding of the scholars that they generalized the scope of the verses related to the wives of the prophet. This shift got popular after Mawlana Madudi propagated it.
