  • What Criteria Makes A Normal Action Become A Sin Under Sadd-e-Zariya

I wanted some help in order to know that in Islam,

If something which is normal in itself, then what criteria should it fulfill, in order that it becomes a minor sin to do under the context of sadd e zariya principle in islam?

    https://youtu.be/kQiv0U1Tlzg?si=MTYKidDvdYcV51rr

When the doer of that normal thing has a goal of doing that to achieve major sin?

Or is it that if that normal thing in itself only majorly leads to major Haram and no other significant benefit, like it has no other connotation of any benefit associated with it and the only thing it is majorly associated is being an aid for that major sin?

    Can you help me understand?

Bad intention can make a good action a sin, let alone a normal action.

A measure that usually takes to a major sin if adopted without intention to to commit a major sin can still be a sin or not depending upon the nature of the measure. However it shows that man is careless and doesn’t have necessary taqwa.

@Irfan76 and sir can you tell me about the part where he talks about Dosti ke saarey hi maqaasid achhe hote hain. Dosti ki aur gheebat hojaye, toh uske liye sayee karni chahiye.

Here also sir my point was that friendship between young people brings a lot of benefits but it also usually and almost certainly brings with a few occasions of gheebat (can be mediated to become less in number but not totally eradicated such that for example only 5 times during whole friendship timelime) or other major sins. So what was he explaining here and what was his opinion here?

He means that when the initial intention is not sinful, then you need not refrain from relationships; if you indulge in anything sinful, you need to avoid and correct it.

@Irfan76 sir as you mentioned that

“A measure that usually takes to a major sin if adopted without intention to to commit a major sin can still be a sin or not depending upon the nature of the measure. However it shows that man is careless and doesn’t have necessary taqwa”

Here friendship certainly leads to major Haram like gheebat occasionally (along with many many benefits of friendship, 90% benefits for eg), so if someone doesn’t have intention to commit sin, he won’t be sinful or be someone being careless about taqwa, so doesn’t this contradict your statement? How to look at this apparent contradiction?

Friendship does not lead to sins, it is the man who goes for sin whether he is with friends or siblings, or other relatives. So he needs to correct himself.

@Irfan76 sir friendship with what type of people will be sinful to do, in the context of violation of sadd e zariya? In the sense that why type of risk should be involved in it that would make the mere actions of friendship and companionship sinful, under sadd e zariya?

One knows that one should avoid the company of evil ones.

@Irfan76 so sir is starting a friendship with someone evil earns me sin? If I know he’s evil and I be friends with him and increase companionship with him, will it be sinful?

Just like a mere staring at a women with lust is sinful

Unless you commit a sin, no sin is counted.

@Irfan76 so sir gazing at a woman with lust. This act can lead to Zina. So then regardless of the sin of Zina happens or not. The action of gazing with lust itself earns someone a sin.

So what you are saying is that friendship with such a person will not in itself earn a sin and not be counted as minor violation, unlike the action of gazing with lust, am I right?

    Right.
