  • No Adorning For Women In Iddah, For Mourning Or Further Marriage Prevention?

There is a Hadith that’s says

    Sahih al-Bukhari 5341

    Narrated Um ‘Atiyya:

We were forbidden to mourn for more than three days for a dead person, except for a husband, for whom a wife should mourn for four months and ten days (while in the mourning period) we were not allowed to put kohl in our eyes, nor perfume our-selves, nor wear dyed clothes, except a garment of ‘Asb (special clothes made in Yemen). But it was permissible for us that when one of us became clean from her menses and took a bath, she could use a piece of a certain kind of incense. And it was forbidden for us to follow funeral processions.

Is it associated with linking feelings of mourning, or is it sadd e zariya principle to prevent marriage during iddah ?

It is preemptive. It is inappropriate for women to adore themselves during marriage as it indicates an advancement towards marriage which is not allowed in this period.

@Irfan76 sir if the women is not doing it with intention of marriage or with intention of looking for partner to marry during iddah (intention to commit a prohibition) but is doing it out of her innate aesthetics, while visiting relatives or some colleague etc. Will it still make her minor sinful?

When a thing apparently becomes a symbol or indicator of something, intention is not considered then.
