Embryo Transplant Permissibility
Assalam o Alaikum
I want to know if my wife can have an embryo implanted into her uterus that is fertilized by the egg and sperm of another couple?
We have been trying to have a child for quite a few years now however, we have not been successful in our attempts. We have also undergone through the IVF procedure but could not succeed. We have had 5 miscarriages previously and after comprehensive fertility treatments and investigations, our chances of conceiving naturally are reducing with time. In this context, our doctors here in Canada advised us multiple alternatives one of which involves implanting a fertilized embryo into my wife’s uterus however, the embryo would be a combination of the egg and sperm of another couple and not me and my wife.
In this scenario, my wife and I really want to go through with this process to have a child but need to be certain if Islam permits this.
