Inheritance Of The Primary Residence Of A Deceased

I need some guidance here.
Ahmed ( presumed name) died 17 years ago and his only inheritance was the primary residence, he and his family was living in; wife, 2 sons and 3 daughters. After his death, the house was transferred to the name of his wife. The family continues to live in the house for 17 years.
At the time of Ahmed’s death, his parents were alive, but not living with Ahmed. The parents died the same year after his death.
Now, 17 years later, the wife is selling the house and want to distribute the money as inheritance.
Question is that how will this money be distributed? As a inheritance of Ahmed per his time of death or as a inheritance of Ahmed’s Wife?

Just to add to the above:
The house was never in Ahmad’s name when he was alive. He had paid for the house but it was under his friend’s name with the understanding that Ahmed has paid for it and he is the owner and living in the house with his family. After Ahmed’s death, his friend transferred the ownership to Ahmed’s wife.
