You can read books on it by different authors like book on it by molana tamanna imadi,dr. aqeels book on it.
In summary there are two main explanations:
Explanation of naqideen or rejectors:who see it as extraction and extension of biblical narrative of return of christ….for me it is most authentic explanation.
Explanation of mijazeen is that,it is actually taken from dream of prophet and should be taken figuratively..
Better is to start from Dr. Aqeel sahabs book on it.
