Khatam Or Khatim
Ghamidi sahab oftenly tells that it is khatim that is used metaphorically and not khatam…but how he knows it ,that somewhere its khatim and not khatam….because diacritical marks were later invented?

Diacritical marks are still not used in Urdu, yet we know how to pronounce word which has two or more different pronunciations. Words are transmitted with their sounds. Therefore, those who know the language know it.
