Sufi Saints Communication With God After End Of Prophethood
Posted by Babar Rizwan on June 20, 2025 at 5:28 pmMuhammad SAW is the seal of the Prophets. Means Wahy (Religous DIrective direct from Allah) has end. But what if like some sufis say they have talked to God, or have some sorf of physical or oral communication. Because it has nothing to do with religious directive just mere communication with God.
Specifically like oral communication, because we know “There is none like unto HIm”, so there is no question of seeing Him, but how does that ayat tell all sort of communication with humans has ended

Moderator June 21, 2025 at 1:34 pmProphethood in essence is the selection of an individual for the purpose of communication with the Almighty. So when the institution of prophethood has come to an end, that means all such communications with humans ended as well. Prophet Muhammad (sws) himself said:
لم يَبْقَ من النُّبُوَّةِ إلا الْمُبَشِّرَاتُ قالوا وما الْمُبَشِّرَاتُ قال الرُّؤْيَا الصَّالِحَةُ
“Nothing remains of prophethood except for things which give glad tidings.” They asked: “What are these?” He replied: “Good dreams.”

As for the sufi experiences, it has more to do with nafsi realm of knowledge. Please refer to the following video for details:

Member June 21, 2025 at 4:12 pmHow have you concluded “Prophethood in essence is the selection of an individual for the purpose of communication with the Almighty.” I mean the purpose of that communication is to convey Deen specifically not just any communication. So what I want to know is when we say everything from Prophethood has ended, it’d mean that now that type of communication is not possible.
Like i know the initiation of communication from humans to God is not verifiable and hence massively flawed due to concept of (darandazi of shaitan/jins) but how can we say that it is not possible at all.
yani mein puchna yeh chahta hun k Jab Allah kehta hai k naboowat par mohr lg gy, iska matlab ab kisi ko “deen” k mutaliq wahy ya communication nahi hogi. lekin Allah ne jo 3 modes of His communciation with “bashr” btayein hain, wo tou mojood hain. kya ham context or kar’ayeiن k bunyad par kehte hain k yeh modes of communciation sirf prophets k liye they bcs context surah ka yehi btarha, yeh modes sirf Quran mein nabiyoun k liye hi istamaal hoye, or hamesha communiaction asmaan se zameen k itarf hoi not vice versa or that agar past mein koi examples thein ya Allah ne yeh rasta khola hota tou usko lazman mention hona chaiye tha. and also communication with God kills the purpose of the test of this world. inki bunyaad par kehte hain k commuication modes are only confined to Prophets?

Member June 23, 2025 at 12:15 pmPlease help me understand the phrase “Nothing remains of Prophethood” because that is the only confusion in the way in my opinion.
yani ‘Naboowat mein se kuch bhi baki nahi raha”, naboowat mein kya hota hai? deen k liye communication ki jati hai. ab woh baki nhi rhi, mtlb deen k liye communication baki nhi rhi. iska matlab yeh kese hai k communication hi baki nhi rhi.
Kindly clear my confusion. Shukria.

Here an initiative comes from God and there is no effort whatsoever from the human being. It is after this communication is established then the prophet is told about his mission and whatever God requires of Him. Therefore, communication is the first step and God is the one who initiates it. What is being said here is that everything which gives rise to prophethood has ended (except for good dreams), thus effectively meaning that initiative from God to communicate with human beings has ended because that was the first step. Also Wherever in Quran, there is mention of God’s communication with a non-prophet human being, it is only in relation to the scheme of prophethood of God i.e. in order to facilitate a prophet in some way. Take examples of Hazrat Maryam (sws), which was in relationship with Prophet Jesus (sws) and Mother of Prophet Moses (sws) was in relation to Prophet Moses (sws). In Quran, there is no independent prophet like communication done by God with human beings independently in their capacity as a human being.
Secondly, what is being claimed by Sufis is not the same thing. They claim to have established communication with God with their own effort through meditation techniques or muraqba etc. This is contrary to how God communicates with Human Beings and/or Prophets. This mode of communication is their personal experience and not backed by Quran. Therefore, other than their personal testimony, there is not much evidence to support their claim.
