Difference Between The Thinking Pc A Religious & Non Religious
I’ve been reflecting on a subtle psychological difference between non-religious people and those who believe in God, especially in how they relate to reality and pursue happiness.
For a non-religious person, one of the key starting points for happiness is to accept the world exactly as it is. This acceptance of “what is” allows for immediate mental peace, emotional stability, and contentment.
But for a believer in God, reality is not simply “as it is” — because they see the world as created by Someone with whom they have a relationship. This relationship introduces a new psychological dynamic
The believer often thinks:
“Since the Creator controls reality, and since I have a personal relationship with Him, reality can potentially change according to His will.”
Therefore, instead of purely accepting things as they are, the believer may turn towards prayer (du’a) for change, hope for divine intervention, seeking deeper meaning or test behind events, questioning the wisdom behind current circumstances. This adds an extra layer of negotiation with reality, rather than simple acceptance. Sometimes this can make happiness and peace more complex: instead of directly accepting reality, the believer often remains psychologically engaged in seeking divine adjustment of reality.
