I have read rulings regarding silicones ( substances used in shampoos and conditioners that form a coating over hair to give silky cosmetic effect but also have protective effects for hair health) needing to be washed away by clarifying shampoo ( shampoo designed to get rid of them). They are suppose to waterproof hair ( but like not really… since the visible effect is still wet hair that dry to just be silkier hair). This ruling relies on the idea the water must reach every hair strand ( but this seems to be going on a molecular level as silicones coat the hair shaft as barrier that isn’t very tangible to the eye except the hair feeling more silky or slippery ). Also didn’t people use oils ( some of which also sit on top of hair shaft rather then penetrate them ex. Castor oil) in the time of the Prophet (SAW).. did they use soap to get rid of them ? If not then shouldn’t water be enough to qualify for ghusl even on silicone ridden conditioned hair. I ask because using clarifying shampoo frequently is damaging to the hair so I would like to know if it is necessary since I use conditioners.

You do not need to do that. Washing hair with shampoo or conditioner is acceptable. Keep in mind that Deen is easy. One does not need to delve into unnecessary details.

Women are allowed to wash their hair tied or braided because it is difficult to untie it every time. This example gives an idea of how easy our Deen is.

Thankyou for using the example for hairs tied up… really helps to understand that unnecessary hardship is not recommended in this case . Also thankyou for taking the time and energy to reply to all our queries, even the smaller ones!
