    Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah,

I am asking on behalf of a friend who is a Muslim woman who will be performing a Nikkah according to Islamic principles. His fiancé’s family is Sikh, and to honor their cultural traditions, they have requested an Anand Karaj ceremony as well. She understands that the Nikkah will be actual and only valid marriage in Islam.

question is: Is it permissible for her to take part in the Anand Karaj ceremony solely as a cultural gesture to respect his family, without intending it as a religious ritual or accepting any non-Islamic beliefs? She will not participate in any actions that compromise Islamic aqeedah, and her intentions is purely to maintain family harmony and respect, especially due to medical/family reasons. Would it be okay for her Muslim family to attend this ceremony?

Would such participation be allowed under Islamic principles, especially in light of Ghamidi Sahib’s understanding of religion and culture?

Side note: Her fiancé did revert to Islam.

    Jazakum Allahu Khairan.
