Sinning openly does not need to be determined. It is there in the open. Like a person murders or rapes in the open.

Does someone who participates in boxing matches also fall under this category, sir? Because they compete while being watched by the public.

And we know that boxing matches are conducted by hurting opponents, so this should be considered a minor sin.

This is about the application. Your discretion is invited here.

What do you mean sir? I don’t understand

      Sir?

Hitting others is a bad thing. So it is sinful. Doing it openly may be counted an committing an open sin.

I understand… but sir, I would like to ask a question. What we are discussing here falls under the category of arrogance, right?
Like revealing sins to the public?

It depends upon the person’s intention. Because it may contain different motives like one may do it as a profession.

If the motive is different, would this still fall under the category of committing a sin openly?

Yes, but due to a different motive, God may treat a case differently.

So… can we say that boxing or UFC matches are considered major sins?

  • Dr. Irfan Shahzad

    Scholar August 2, 2025 at 1:33 am

They are open sins, not major.

What do you mean, sir? I think all minor sins committed openly are considered major sins.

So boxing and UFC fall into this category, right?

  • Dr. Irfan Shahzad

    Scholar August 4, 2025 at 12:56 am

No. Major sins are major only. However committing sins openly intensifies their sinfulness.

I see………… that means boxing or UFC, even if it is done in front of a large audience (because its purpose is also for entertainment), it still falls under the category of minor sins, not major sins! Is that correct, sir?

  • Dr. Irfan Shahzad

    Scholar August 4, 2025 at 1:39 am

Sins are not just minor and major. The intensity of a sin increases the level of displeasure. So, one should avoid a sin which may increase the displeasure of God.

How do we measure the intensity of a sin, sir? By one’s behavior? Such as committing sins that disturb the public or flaunting them without shame, is that how we measure it?

Our moral sense can judge it, as you mentioned.
