  • Difficulty Watching Long Series Due To Repetition

Posted by Jamal Afzaal on July 19, 2025 at 3:50 am

Assalamu Alaikum. I have deep respect for Ghamidi Sahab’s work and genuinely want to learn about Islam through his understanding. But I find it very difficult to follow the long video series. The same points are often repeated within the same video and sometimes again across episodes.

Most videos are over an hour long, and with so much repetition, it becomes mentally tiring to watch and absorb the content. I feel the message can be delivered more effectively if the videos are made more concise. Maybe the editor can trim repeated parts.

This is a serious issue for those of us who want to follow and learn but struggle due to the length and repetitive nature of the videos. I hope this issue will be addressed by the organization.

    JazakAllah.

I know the original commentator makes a good point about video lengths being too long, as it’s definitely a barrier for a lot of people. However, I really hope the longer videos are still around even if edited shorter videos are made aswell. I find the longer style videos by far the most informative and their repetitive nature a great educational tool for learning. To the original commentator, I too struggled with their length initially but with time I have found that the long videos are the only ones that can effectively answer questions that occasionally pop in my head as they are so good a delivery concepts behind religious rulings and not just the religious rulings. I have come to understand that their repetitiveness is used as a way to reinforce a foundation understanding of a subject before introducing a new point and it is very effective. Just wanted to give my humble perspective on the matter as someone who once shared your concerns but have come to greatly appreciate their utility over time. May I suggest using wireless headphones to listen to them during chores or driving.

You may be right, and I may get used to them eventually, but honestly, from my side, I’ve really tried a lot. It’s frustrating to hear the same information again and again. It’s not just repeated once or twice, it’s repeated many more times, even across different episodes. That really gets to me, because I keep thinking, “You already told me this like five times. I get it.”

Often, a whole one-hour episode covers just one or two questions, and for me, that feels like very little information. Like you said, maybe it’s easier if you listen passively, with it playing in the background. But I don’t think these episodes were designed for that. I watch them very consciously, and honestly, it takes a lot of mental energy to focus on a person’s voice continuously and when that focus is met with repetitive information, it becomes really tiring.

Still, I do understand your perspective and appreciate you sharing it. Thank you. I’ll try your suggestion, maybe I’ll play them while doing some work or chores and see how that goes.

I never found any repetition that is vague. There are many channels on youtube that cut ghamidi sahab’s clips from long lectures and make shorter clips. Sometimes, repetition is necessary to highlight the same things from different angles.

If needed, another channel by Ghamidi center can be launched for edited clips, but trimming videos drastically can be bad since most of ghamidi sahab’s written work is to-the-point & only explanation is in his videos.

I don’t know, brother, how is listening to the same information over and over not frustrating for you? I have huge huge respect for Ghamidi Sahab’s work, and I’m not degrading it in any way, just sharing my personal experience. Maybe it’s just me who gets annoyed listening to the same information repeatedly.

Also, just to be clear, I’m not saying the videos should be shorter or anything. I’m okay with watching content that’s more than an hour long. I want the videos to be comprehensive, but my point is that they should also be concise [emphasis on concise word]. It’s fine if something is repeated with a new angle or perspective, that makes sense but what I’m referring to is when an entire concept is repeated again just to answer the next question, even though it was explained just a few minutes earlier. That kind of repetition feels unnecessary to me.

Maybe next time I find these repetitions, I’ll share them here.
