It comes from the prophet. He used to perform the nafl prayer while sitting on the camel and he performed the last two rakat after Tahajjud while sitting.

Can we say that performing nafl prayer while sitting has a reason because in first situation prophet offered it because of travel and in second situation, prophet used to offer long rakats so tiredness can be the reason for performing nafl prayer while sitting?
