Have you watched the following video? Please take a moment to view it — it explains the topic in detail: Discussion 33647

    Sadd-e-Zariyah (Blocking the Means)

“Sadd-e-Zariyah” is an Islamic legal principle that means “blocking the means to a greater sin.” In simple terms, it refers to preventing the smaller actions that might lead to a major sin in the future.

For example, in Islam, Zina (adultery or fornication) is considered one of the most serious and destructive sins. To protect individuals and society from falling into this sin, Islam doesn’t just prohibit the act itself—it also forbids any behavior that may lead to it, even if those behaviors are not sinful on their own or can be minor sins.

    This includes:

    • Watching pornography

    • Engaging in private meetings in seclusion which may lead to zina

    • Looking at someone with lust

    • Touching or flirting in a suggestive way (for sleeping together)

    • Sharing or exposing private body parts, whether physically or through video/photos

    • All of these are seen as stepping stones toward a larger sin and are therefore discouraged or prohibited as a preventive measure.

Tazkiyah means purification—both of the body and, more importantly, of the soul, heart, and mind. It’s the inner process of cleansing yourself from negative influences, desires, and harmful thoughts, so you can develop good character and draw closer to Allah.

Pornography, even if not acted upon, pollutes the mind. It stimulates desires unnaturally, creates unrealistic fantasies, and erodes the sense of shame (haya), which is central in Islam. Over time, it can lead to addiction, dissatisfaction in real relationships ( which may lead to haqtalfi (uprising right of other, another major sin), and or even lead to rape (Fisad fil Ard, Corruption in land, another major sin)

So, engaging with pornographic material is discouraged and may be considered a minor sin for watching naked bodies of others intentionally.

What do you mean with this:

    • Engaging in private conversations or meetings with non-mahram individuals (those one can marry)

So I cannot have a WhatsApp chat with my female cousin or my female friends,or is about be alone in a private zone?

      • Touching or flirting in a suggestive way

So I cannot say to a women that you are beautiful ,but of course even I believe that flirting with the body that’s of course haram.

        2) I see the video of Dr Shaza Salem where he say that pornography is discourage because is go against the sacralità of the family, and the real sin and major sin is the Zina.

I meant in seclusion, i refined my response with chatgpt so it transformed it to something else. let me correct my response.

so touching can be used for seducing as well. Generally in western culture, on a date when you touch, it considered as an nonverbal cue for sleeping together. In South Asian culture, if the touch leads to that then yes it will be considered forbidden for same reason.

Yes pornography is discouraged because it may lead to major sin. According to ghamidi sb understanding, if you commit a major sin, then even small things leading to that sin will be counted and punished for.
