  • Issue Of Unblooded Sister And Rakshabandhan

I studied in a co-educational school. One day, I witnessed some boys harassing my classmate, who was from a Hindu family. I intervened, stopped them, and since then she has treated me like her real brother, while I have respected her as my sister. My family also treats her like a daughter. As part of a cultural tradition in India, she ties a Rakhi on my wrist every year.
Some religious scholars claim that this is a major sin and that I will be held accountable for it in the Hereafter. My question is: by accepting her as a sister and protecting her dignity, have I committed any sin? And specifically, is it permissible in Islam to participate in the Rakhi tradition, or is it prohibited?

Saving some ones dignity is not sin.

Can you please elaborate what is rakhi tradition?

As a principle, we can not wear or do anything which has polytheistic bearing according verse 7:33. If this rakhi teadition has polithiestic bearing, you can politely explain why you cannot wear it. She will understand and respect your belief..

u can sincerly search for current practice association with polytheism, based on that, You can decide on this principle whether to wear it or not.

Rakshabandhan is a festival of Hindus in which a sister ties a thread on her brother’s hand to show respect and take promise for her safety
