whether the ruling is more important or the purpose of the ruling? As Allah Almighty has said in the Quran that interest is a burden, it is a burden on the poor, but not on the rich, not on the businessman. Due to this, interest transactions were made, but the reason for which interest was stopped was not fulfilled. Similarly, the case of alcohol is that it makes us intoxicated, so if a person remains conscious by drinking alcohol, wouldn’t it be a sin?

It is not the underlying purpose but the actual cause that determines whether a ruling applies. If the cause is present, the ruling is enforced; if absent, the ruling does not apply. At the same time, certain preventive measures are introduced to block the path to sin or wrongdoing. For example, the purpose of traffic rules is to prevent accidents. Even if someone believes they can safely cross by breaking a signal, they will still be fined. This preemptive rule exists to prevent misuse.

The Quran does not mention that interest is a burden on the poor and therefore one should avoid it. It is forbidden because it is against the spirit of piety that one receives interest on laon.
