O children of Adam, take your adornment at every masjid, and eat and drink, but be not excessive. Indeed, He likes not those who commit excess” [al-A‘raaf 7:31]

This translation mentions masjid but generally speaking I see the word to worship used more often. Which would be more correct?

The word Zeenat is used ,I believe ,in the Arabic text. In an earlier verse clothings are described both for modesty and adornment ( with a different word warisha )

O children of Adam! We have provided for you clothing to cover your nakedness and as an adornment. However, the best clothing is righteousness. This is one of Allah’s bounties, so perhaps you will be mindful.

So to clarify, my question is: are we suppose to beautify ourselves for prayer or is this verse more in line with modest proper dressing? Because otherwise, night pajamas really isn’t beautiful, but it can be modest. I mean we don’t always have nice cloths on when praying, is that sinful?
