  • Why The Number Of Nikah Is Set Specifically To Four By God?

If marriage is not sunnah but just a social contract about which God has laid down some moral principles to abolish immorality….then why has Allah set the maximum limit of wives only 4…..what is the wisdom behind this limit. …he could have easily reveal the verses of justice among the wives rather than putting a limit.

Nikah and related activities are Sunnah. Nikah in essence is a contract between a man and wife to spend the rest of their lives as husband and wife. Limit of four is set by Allah, why he set it to specifically four? it is not our domain to ask this question at the moment. We can ask when and if we get a chance to ask such questions to Allah. However the wisdom, appears to be human capacity in handling multiple marriages and misuse of this allowance, and incapacity to commit justice after a certain number.
