Importance Of Last Words Of A Deceased Person
What is the importance of last words of a deceased person in islam? My mother on her death bed instructed my father to marry her widowed sister in case she passes away, she said the same to her widowed sister (my khala). My mother by the will of Allah lost her life to brain tumour leaving 4 children (all adults) and my father. All my siblings are of the view that my Khaala might not be the best person to fit in our family, but my dad insists that we cannot forgo last wishes of the dying person. Given my mother suffered from damage to the right side of brain that controls logic and reasoning and it does not seem like this marriage would be something she would have suggested in her sanity, as my khala and my dad are very opposite of each other and there is weirdness about them living together as a couple as she always addressed my dad as elder brother. Additionally, all my siblings and my mother’s siblings agree that this proposal would not be the right step, given the traumatic divorce of my khala from her previous marriage and her negative views towards men.
We would like to understand what is the islamic ruling in this matter? My mother’s words were verbal and she was under strong medicines when she said those words. Please guide us with references.
JazakAllah Khair,
Iman
