Birth of a baby is also a painful moment for the mother and this is the pain we are certain about, and yet women give birth to babies everyday. Because the joy of having a newborn overcomes the pain of their birth.
We do not know how much pain one goes through at the time of death, but we do see signs of pain in the person going through this phase. For believers, this sickness before death or pain of death serves as a recompense for smaller sins, and the joy which believers receive in the afterlife will overcome the pain they suffered at the time of their death or in life overall.
Lastly, this world is instituted by God on the principle of test and trial, which means human beings will be tested through pain and suffering, among other things. Therefore, a believer has to be patient while going through any form of pain and suffering. That is the whole point of test in this world.
