  • Can A Old Lady Stay With His Son In Law After His Daughter’S Death

Posted by Owais Shah on August 31, 2025 at 10:26 am

My maternal grandmother has a house gifted by his late husband (my grandfather). They had five daughters only. After marriage of all 5, my grandfather died and their youngest daughter(my youngest aunt) decided to move there with her husband and one son. They had decided to purchase the house from my grandmother and give each sister their share.

Now the same aunt passed away due to sudden illness leaving her husband, son and my grandmother there.

There is no conflict on property share.

Now is it allowed for my grandmother to stay with her son in law, or do some shariah laws apply of mehram and naa-mehram. And can her other four daughters visit their mother freely without any religious bindings

In this situation, Islamic law (Shariah) does not prohibit your grandmother from staying with her son-in-law, as he is considered a mahram (unmarriageable kin) to her.

However, it’s essential to maintain proper Islamic etiquette and boundaries.

Regarding visits from her other daughters, there are no religious restrictions. They can visit their mother freely, as they are mahram to each other.

Remember to prioritize respect, modesty, and Islamic values in all interactions.
