My parents are going to perform umrah. We are told, by the relatives, that they cannot use perfumed products like soap, shampoo and lotion. Is it true? If yes, what’s the reason behind it?

Once you wear Ahram, and pronounce the niyat, then you cannot use soap or perfume. This is a state of Jihad against Satan, and you are going to sacrifice yourself symbolically. These restrictions are not before or after Ahram.
