    Salam alaikum,

Premise:- While it’s obligated for us Muslims to lower our gaze to maintain moral uprightness , to stay away from Zina and respect the modesty of others. Keeping this premise in mind I’m of the opinion that watching porn is haram and masturbation with the aid of it as well (I think masturbation with ones imagination or spouse falls into mubah makrooh).

My question is what about looking at fictional cartoon characters who may slightly incite someone and therefore looking at them with lust would that be considered Mubah/Makrooh or haram?

Inappropriate gazing remains impermissible, whether directed at a living human being or at a depiction of one. While it may be argued that the absence of a real human factor lessens the severity to some degree, the underlying reason for prohibiting indecent gazes toward the opposite gender still applies here—namely, the potential incitement to zina. Therefore, such behavior should also be regarded as prohibited. Its violation would be considered a minor sin.
