Parents Enforcing Parda On Their Children
My parents do not allow me to go to the market because of pardah. I am 19 years old, but they still don’t allow me to make my own decisions. They also enforce strict pardah on me, even though I personally believe that modest clothing is sufficient, as mentioned in Surah An-Nur and as explained by Javed Ahmad Ghamidi.
I want to understand: to what extent do my parents have the authority to impose such rules on me? Are parents allowed, from an Islamic perspective, to enforce these obligations on an adult daughter?
