  • Surah Al-Anbiya — 21:98 Seems Contradiction ?

Surah 21:98 seems to say everything worshipped besides Allah will enter Hell, yet other verses show prophets and angels are innocent. How is this reconciled? Is this a contradiction or is there a specific explanation

Ghamidi Sahab has explained this point:

“their idols and stones. Here the Idolaters are the addresses; hence it is they who are implied. A further indication of this is the use of مَا in this verse. At another place, the Quran (2:23) has made this very clear by the words وَقُوْدُهَا النَّاسُ وَ الْحِجَارَةُ. The reason to make these stones the fuel of Hell is not to punish these stones but to humiliate their worshippers so that they can see the horrible fate of what they were worshipping. Besides them, also included in them are those human beings and the jinn who worshipped those idols instead of God.”

It is Quran 2:24 not 23. The English translation quoted the wrong verse number.
