    On one hand, I have been taught that with true remorse and repentance, major sins are forgiven.

    But then Ghamidi sir said that that’s not always the case and that sometimes a person will absolutely not be forgiven even if he asks for it, for example according to some Hadith where Prophet PBUH mentioned about a person who if he even hugs the kaaba, he will not be forgiven.

    This has been causing me so much fear all the time and existential crisis and wish that I wasn’t under someone else’s mercy and control. The uncertainty here is hurting me a lot

    God has clearly mentioned that He would forgive on sincere repentance.

    The incident you refer to is about the enemies of God, who had committed major crimes and never repented, and at the time of the conquest of Makkah, the Prophet declared that no mercy for them, even if they requested peace in the Kaaba. This has nothing to do with sincere repentance.

    You should read the Quran: See 39: 53
    قُلْ يَا عِبَادِيَ الَّذِينَ أَسْرَفُوا عَلَىٰ أَنفُسِهِمْ لَا تَقْنَطُوا مِن رَّحْمَةِ اللَّهِ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ جَمِيعًا ۚ إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ
