Call Allah Instead Of Khuda
I have heard Ghamidi SB nicely explaining how you can call Him khuda bcs all the good names belong to Him” قل ادع الله أو ادع الرحمن ايما………..”
Everyone at the time of Rasulullah S used to call Him Allah. They weren’t familiar with Al Rahman. So Allah said either one is fine. Where does khuda come from?
Since Allah acknowledged the name Allah in the Qur’an every muslim on the face of the earth recognizes Him as the supreme diety.
If you say khuda many people ask what it is
Even though there’s nothing wrong calling Him Khuda, isn’t it better to call Him Allah?

Khuda is a Persian word that’s used to refer to the Almighty God. Words carry no meaning within themselves – they are only used to communicate the underlying concepts. In Quran 7:180 God says that to Him belong the beautiful names. We can invoke Him with any name that’s in accordance with His grandeur.

Understand. Why ignore the established name and insist on a Persian one?

There’s no reason to insist on anything. It’s a matter of personal preference – as long as there’s nothing inherently wrong in the name we should not restrict people. As you stated earlier, even Allah was a common name amongst the audience of prophet Muhammad SAW. He did not invent a new name because there wasn’t anything inherently wrong with it. In Arab countries people of other belief systems still refer to God as Allah. It’s an Arabic word without any significance particular to Islam.

If someone who’s not familiar with the persian word Khuda likes to read Ghamidi sb’s tafseer, do you think he will be comfortable?

Any book is written with an audience in mind. Al-Bayan is obviously written in Urdu for those familiar with that language. I’d be hard pressed to find a person who speaks and understands Urdu but doesn’t know what the word khuda refers to. Even if you can find such a person, as long as he has a reasonable level of intellect he’ll figure out the meaning in a few seconds through context. If there’s still any room left for error, it will be undoubtedly filled by reading the content of the book which discusses the oneness of God on every page if not more often.

I know ، Maulana Abu ala’la maududi and many other mufassiroon bfr his time also used the word Khuda. It must be very popular in those days. Anyway JazakaAllahu khair for taking time to respond, Br. Faisal. ‘Albayan’ translated to English yet?
