Currently I’m suffering from a medical condition that did side effect on my mental health and I suffered through extreme distress and anxiety. I’m a reverted muslim from a specific firqa where I used to do shirq by seeking help from dead holy peoples. Now, because of a famous scholar I’ve became a muslim! My mother’s still a 10% in that trap of seeking help from dead wali ullah’s and she says that you should never speak bad for them that they asked people to seek help from them after their death yet I’ve seen many of those have written these kind of shirq things in their books. I just used to criticize some of the dead holy people and my mother always used to say

Me that you don’t know whether that person himself has written this book or maybe their books have been manipulated. From some days when I started suffering from this medical disease and mental distress my mother said that this has happened because you have criticized the holy people of Allah and she asked me that one of the living successor of a holy person has said that if somebody has criticized or disrespected any only person of Allah then he should visit his nearest holy shrine (mazaar) of any reputable wali ullah and and he has to visit their grave and as to salute them kind of he said! I have read Quran Allah has never mentioned these kind of things that if you disrespected somebody then I will give you medical disease like I myself don’t think that these condition has happened because of my criticism. on my mother‘s advice I visited the holy grave of multan’s infamous wali ullah but I didn’t do any kind of salute bus standing in front of his grave. I just said Assalamu Alaykum Ya Ahlal Quboor and and then recited soora fatiha and sura ikhlaas and asked Allah to please forgive that holy dead person and grant him Jan and I only talked to Allah that please forgive me if I did some disrespectful thing and please bless me with good health. I want to know do the right thing and is it something that if we kind of disrespect some holy people than Allah will punish?

You did the right thing by praying for the person in the grave. The ones who are dead need our prayers and not the other way round. It is Allah alone who decides who is truly holy and who is not. We hope for the best and pray that Allah accepts the good deeds of every Muslim. Declaring someone a waliullah is not within our authority; only Allah can determine this.

There is no reason to disrespect anyone regarded as special by another group of Muslims, as this only hurts their sentiments and serves no purpose. Instead, we should share the message of the Quran on this matter and leave the rest to Allah.

Thank you for explaining me, I’ve watched all 3 of recommended videos. Just one part of my question left y unanswered that as my mother said that you have disrespected these Wali’s and that’s why Allah has put you in this whereas I just criticized some of the wali’s on behalf of their own books which my mother says that this is disrespect and that’s why Allah has kind of punished me. So I want to ask that whether in Quran or authentic Hadith’s is there any proof that Allah sort of punishes if maybe I did have disrespected any dead person on behalf of his own content and my only sole purpose was criticism.

There is no clear Quranic or authentic‑Sunnah text that establishes a general rule that Allah will immediately punish someone in this life simply for criticizing or “disrespecting” someone. The claims about divine causality must be grounded in clear scripture and sound hadith rather than folk explanations.

Sincere, text‑based critique is different from ridicule or slander—observe proper adaab (etiquette) toward the dead, correct any disrespectful tone, seek Allah’s forgiveness if you feel you crossed a line, avoid asserting that a particular hardship is definitive proof of punishment, and continue to present criticism with evidence, humility, and a Quran‑first approach.
