currently I have to stay in the hostel which I am really not enjoying. I feel a constant sense of unease there and it clearly feels that I am not stayed right now. due to also my studies and strict schedule it might be hard for me to manage my life in hostel. is there any leniency regarding it, so that I could fulfill my Ramadan later.

Wa alaikum assalam,First, fasting in Ramadan is farz on every adult Muslim who is physically and mentally able. The basic rule is that difficulty alone does not remove the obligation. Studies, hostel life, strict schedule — these are challenges, but normally they are not considered a valid excuse to skip Ramadan and make it up later.
However, Islam is realistic. The condition for fasting is ability. If a person is genuinely unwell — physically or psychologically — then there is leniency. The Qur’an clearly allows those who are ill or unable to fast to make up the fasts later.
Emotional and psychological instability is real. If you are going through a rough emotional state, anxiety, burnout, or mental exhaustion that genuinely affects your functioning — this is not something to dismiss. Mental health is not “drama.” It can make even simple tasks feel overwhelming.
But you need to be honest with yourself. Are you uncomfortable and uneasy? Or are you genuinely in a state where fasting would harm you or worsen your mental condition?
There is a difference between discomfort and incapacity. If fasting will make your emotional state collapse — severe anxiety, panic, inability to function — then yes, there is room to delay and make them up later. Islam does not want you to break internally while trying to perform worship.
But if it is only unease, adjustment difficulty, or dislike of hostel life — then fasting itself might actually ground you and give structure.
Also remember if you force yourself harshly while already emotionally unstable, you may start associating fasting with burden and resentment. That is not healthy. Fasting is meant to build taqwa, not psychological breakdown.
So try the first few days gently.Do not mentally pressure yourself with “perfect Ramadan.”Focus on basic fasting, simple prayers, proper sleep. If you genuinely find that your mental health is deteriorating in a serious way, then you can pause and make them up later. But don’t decide out of fear before trying. Ramadan is not about performance. It is about sincerity and capacity. Be honest with your state. Allah knows the difference between weakness and excuse better than you do.

Now I will have to go a km for sehri in the morning. It seems kinda hard. Man it’s really hard to really fall again asleep and yeah I have idiotic roommates which won’t let me sleep 3:00 am

Man, honestly, you’ll probably be getting more reward than me. You’re putting in way more effort just to manage sehri and sleep in that environment. That struggle itself counts.

Try fasting for a few days and see how your body and mind handle it. If you can manage, keep going. Ramadan fasts are still obligatory if you’re physically able, even if it’s inconvenient or your sleep gets disturbed. But if it genuinely starts harming your health or mental stability, then there is a real concession to make them up later.

Also, if possible, why not buy some simple pre-cooked meals or something easy to store? (I don’t fully know your situation ik you’ve already thought of these solutions) but I really hope Allah makes it easier for you.

And please don’t be too harsh on yourself. Allah does not want to break you through worship — He wants sincerity and effort. If you ever need to talk, you can message me.

If I can be of any help u can dm me
