Choosing The Truth
Muslims should not blindly follow a specific fiqh, but instead understand Islam independently through the Quran and reason. My question is: in practice, how is this possible when the primary sources themselves differ? Ahlus Sunnah and Ahlul Tashi traditions present different rulings on fundamental practices like prayer, fasting, and Hajj, and even differ in the historical context used to understand the Quran. At the same time, both rely on narrators who are considered trustworthy within their own traditions. So, on what rational or principled basis can a person objectively choose between these competing interpretations, without falling into subjective preference or inherited bias?”
