According to historians like Tabari and Ibn Kathir, Yazid ibn Muawiya wrote to Walid bin Utbah regarding Imam Husayn and instructed: “Take allegiance from him, and if he refuses, strike his neck.”

In light of these reports, why does Javed Ahmad Ghamidi believe that Yazid had no role in the killing of Imam Husayn? On what basis are these narrations not considered sufficient to attribute responsibility to Yazid?

Hostorical narrations have to be examined critically they are not allowed true.

The government was well aware that Husain was in contact with Kufis. They were inviting him to kids to establish separate khilafat. That is why the government was concerned to take allegiance from Husain. However Yazid did not seem to harm Husain as Husain went from Madina to Makkah and spent months there having meetings with Kufis but he was not killed despite his refusal to give pledge to Yazid. So much so when he left Makkah to Kufa he was allowed and no order to kill him passed.
