Some genes in genetically modified foods are obtained from animals. Are these fruits still halal? Eg even if the animal is still living but it comes from a gene in a pig. Also we don’t really ever know where the gene comes from so what should we do?

The key is to stick with the principles. I shared my opinion on this in a similar question you asked earlier:

what are the principles when it comes to flesh that came from a living animal. eg a part of an animal is cut off is the meat maytah? is there a difference between flesh and genes?

The principle in this case is that consuming the flesh of a living animal is haram. You can apply it to your case and figure it out whether it’s haram or halal. There are many variables in this kind of questions so it’s not possible to comment on the exact case.
