It’s not necessary to read the Quran with tajweed. What’s necessary is to read the Quran with understanding and seek guidance from it.

Will you understand the meaning from how you pronounce the words, or will you refer to so many different scholarly translations that are already out there? Also the example you used about qul and jul are not a matter of tajweed – that is replacing the entire words.
I am not saying that tajweed is not important. What I’m saying is that what’s necessary is to comprehend the message of the Quran.
