No brother, Namaste means i bow to the divine in you. It goes against our religious beliefs as we only bow to Allah.

Yai woh ibadat wala jhukna murad nhi hota jaisay Allah kai agay jhuktay hain. Jab tak adab tak baat rahti hai, wahan tak aisi cheezon par aiteraz nhi hota.

Does anybody knows what Sat Sri Akal means. My guess would be (Seven respectable priests or Worriers)

@UmerQureshi got it. But Namasty means I bow to you isn’t it shirkiya kalima? Hassan bhai said there’s nothing shirkiya in Namasty and Sat Sri Akal

It has both literal and spiritual connotations. Literally, one can say it means “I bow to you” but spiritually it has many dimensions like “the divine in me respectfully recognizes the divine in you.” Also, it has risen above from literary use and has now become more of a customary greeting thing than a person actually intending to bow to another person. But if one finds any polytheistic connotations or dimensions intended by the people, the one should definitely refrain from engaging in such greetings.
