In an English exam paper- this question appeared:

‘LGBTQ fiction should be more widely available in school libraries’

Write a letter arguing for this statement.

Is there anything wrong with answering this question? Obviously we would have to argue against our own worldview; writing things like ‘people are suffering inside for what they shouldn’t be ashamed of’ etc etc. In the end, it would be very difficult to present a convinving argument and get high marks for a very important exam if we didn’t abandon some principles that we agree with.

Very difficult situation for you. Seems like a deliberate agenda to promote LGBTQ and to make them acceptable in society.

I think you may be able to ask for a different question based on religious objections.

That would be very difficult as gcses only occur twice a year and I probably can’t just say in the middle of the exam that I can’t do this

I was thinking about this issue for a while. Perhaps you could twist the answer and support their rights stating that every human in this World is born with a free will and given every human right to free speech. As long as the speech is not to incite violence against others or falsly accusing or defaming others. Determining whether LGBTQ is morally or religiously right or wrong is a separate question, but as a human they can say or write whatever they want. Just as streight people have every right to say that LGBTQ is an immoral or wrong behavior. As long as both groups have full right to free speech, both groups can say or publish anything.
